“We need an app” is often a description of the desired feeling rather than the actual business requirement.

The business may really need customers to book, staff to update records, or people to access information easily from their phones. A well-designed responsive web application can often do those things without requiring customers to install anything.

When a web system may be enough

  • The service should open instantly from a link.
  • Users only need standard browser capabilities.
  • Fast deployment and easier updates matter.
  • The audience is unlikely to install another app for occasional use.

When a native app becomes more interesting

  • Deep device integration is central to the product.
  • Offline capability is important.
  • Push notifications or hardware access are core requirements.
  • Usage frequency justifies an installed experience.
Choose the technology after defining the job it needs to do.

ZH Digital's preference is not “web instead of apps.” It is simply to avoid selling complexity that the business does not need.
